Jagapathi Babu (born Veeramachaneni Jagapathi Rao Chowdary on February 12, 1962), affectionately known as "Jaggu Bhai," is a prolific Indian actor who predominantly works in Telugu cinema, alongside major roles in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films. Born in Machilipatnam to veteran producer-director V. B. Rajendra Prasad, he debuted as a child artist in his father's *Manchi Manushulu* (1974) and made his lead debut in *Simha Swapnam* (1989). He found his commercial breakthrough with *Peddarikam* (1992) and Ram Gopal Varma's gritty thriller *Gaayam* (1993), which won him his first Nandi Award for Best Actor. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Jagapathi Babu became synonymous with the "family hero" genre following the blockbuster *Subhalagnam* (1994). He delivered acclaimed performances across family dramas, comedies, and action films, winning Nandi Best Actor Awards for *Maavichiguru* (1996) and *Manoharam* (2000), and Best Supporting Actor for *Anthahpuram* (1998) and *Lakshyam* (2007) — the latter also earning him a Filmfare Award.
